The coyote that was killed in Rye Brook after reports of three separate attacks on humans was confirmed to be rabid yesterday by the Westchester County Department of Health.
The coyote is believed to have attacked two children and a man in Rye Brook over the weekend.
A Rye Brook police officer fatally shot the coyote on North Ridge Street after the animal lunged at the officer.
A 14-year-old boy, a 2-year-old girl and her father all received rabies shots after the attack, and health officials say that when treatment is administered early enough, it is 100 percent effective.
