BEDFORD HILLS - A car burst into flames in a Bedford Hills auto body shop Saturday, just inches from other vehicles.

Fire crews arrived at Northern Westchester Auto Body on Plainfield Avenue just after 4 p.m., and broke through shop windows to get inside. Firefighters say they found a car believed to have been under repair from an accident engulfed in flames.

Luckily crews say no one was inside at the time and the shop was fitted with the right safety mechanisms. "There was a sprinkler system above the area where there was chemicals, so it kept the fire at bay on that side," said Fire Chief Dominick Bueti.

Firefighters say the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
