CSX freight train hits car in Highlands; 1 in serious condition
Officials say a CSX freight train struck an occupied vehicle at a rail crossing on Mine Dock Road in Highlands Wednesday.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office says the occupant of the car was transported to Westchester Medical Center in serious condition.
CSX officials say the train had two locomotives and 121 cars, and was carrying mixed freight. It was headed to Hamlet, North Carolina from Selkirk, New York.
The accident is still under investigation.
