A brother and sister in West Babylon have been running a sex trafficking ring since November with at least four female victims, according to Suffolk District Attorney Tim Sini.
Sini says Anthony and Damaris Cordero brought the women to hotel and motel rooms in Commack, Port Jefferson Station, Medford and other towns across Suffolk County.
“The defendants used drugs to induce these women into working for them as sex slaves essentially,” says Sini. “They gave them both cocaine and heroin. They did that both to impair their judgment and to make them dependent on [the Corderos].”
The alleged victims are in their 20s and 30s.
Sini says Anthony Cordero was first arrested after a traffic stop that found two women with drugs in the car with Cordero.
Defense attorney Ira Weissman told a judge, “These are drug addicts. They can't be believed."
“This case starts from women who were first brought to a precinct accused of possessing controlled substances and it ends with them leaving the precinct having accused somebody else of a crime,” said Weissman.
Anthony and Damaris Cordero were arraigned Thursday. Anthony was held on $500,000 bail, $1 million bond. Damaris was held on $200,000 bond.
