Dad busted for allegedly letting son take joyride
A village of Florida man was arrested after police say they pulled over his car and found the man?s 12-year-old son at the wheel.
According to police, a New York state trooper pulled the car over on I-84 in Newburgh Sunday for an expired inspection sticker. The trooper says a boy was driving the car with his father, 46-year-old Michael Hansen, in the passenger seat.
Investigators say Hansen?s only explanation was that he wanted to give the boy a feel for the road. The alleged joyride was cut short when Hansen was arrested and slapped with several tickets, including one for not having his son buckled up.
Hansen was charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say it was fortunate that the inexperienced driver did not cause an accident.
