December nor'easter dumps on Hudson Valley
A December nor'easter dumped up to two inches of rain on the area Thursday, leaving concerns about flooding and icy roads for Friday.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather watch expected to last into Friday. That means the potential for freezing rain and sleet in areas south of Stony Point, and with it, the need to salt the roads and melt the ice.
"Crews are ready to go, to grind it up and spread it over the roads, should things get a little icy," says Robert Ralston, a Ramapo Highway Department spokesperson.
A winter storm warning is also in effect for Orange County, and with the heavy rains in the Hudson Valley, the National Weather Service issued a flood watch. Once the roads ice over, drivers should expect slick and dangerous conditions.
