Democrats hope to break out brooms in statewide races
If all the pre-election polls are right, the races at the top of the ticket in New York won't be as close as some of the local elections.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Eliot Spitzer remains poised for a landslide victory against Republican John Faso. Faso?s campaign never got the funding needed to take on Spitzer, but the Republican still campaigned hard in the final hours. Also expected to celebrate a victory is Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY), who leads in the polls against former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer. Democratic attorney general candidate Andrew Cuomo also remains confident. Republican opponent Jeanine Pirro?s campaign has been plagued with problems after talks of a federal probe.
However, the GOP hopefuls are gathering in Albany and won?t give up. To see more on the Republican candidates click here.
