Disabled woman encounters voting roadblocks
A disabled Spring Valley woman says she never got to vote Tuesday because a voting booth was not handicap accessible.
Barbara Mangam is in a wheelchair and arranged for transportation in order to vote at Village Hall. However, when she arrived, she says an election inspector told her there was a problem with the only handicap-accessible voting booth and sent her to Ramapo Town Hall.
Mangam says she had to go to work and couldn?t get a ride to Ramapo Town Hall. She says this isn't the first time she's encountered problems and was prevented from voting. ?It was a big inconvenience because I knew who I wanted to vote for and I knew who I didn't want to vote for," Mangam says.
After hearing about Mangam?s problems, a judge issued an emergency ballot to be brought to her home so she can vote in the election.
