A dog park in the Village of Mamaroneck celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The event included photo opportunities with pets and the chance to purchase park passes.

Village of Mamaroneck Mayor Tom Murphy says residents have wanted to have a dog park in the area for years.

“This park has been 20 years in the asking,” he said. “It's finally come to fruition."

The park is located behind the water treatment plant at Harbor Island Park. It will be open from 8 a.m. until dusk.
