Driver who failed to give right of way dies in crash
A Monroe woman died Monday after police say she pulled into an intersection and was broadsided by a car that had the right of way.
Police say Judith Widman, 61, was trying to make a left turn at Dunderberg and Nininger roads when a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Donna Hickey, also of Monroe, slammed into Widman's car.
Hickey, who suffered fractured ribs and internal injuries, was flown to Westchester Medical Center. She's in stable condition. Widman was pronounced dead at Arden Hill Hospital.
Residents say the intersection is notoriously dangerous because many drivers fail to stop and give the right of way.
