Drivers have 'few weeks' to see Tappan Zee plan
? Delays in future plans for the Tappan Zee Bridge have residents boiling, as project leaders predict the plan won?t be released for another ?few weeks.?
In February, a Tappan Zee Bridge planning committee targeted May for when its plan would be ready. But now, due to a ?great deal? of technical and environmental studies, the plan could take a few more weeks, according to Michael Anderson, the project?s team leader.
The plan?s postponement doesn?t sit well with some local drivers.
?I can?t understand why nobody is informed about what?s going on. I find that there is a lot of wasted money or there are no funds and I?m not sure what?s going on. It?s disappointing,? said Carolyn Zinman, of New City.
Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef said the recent change in governorship played into the delays of any announcement. While former Gov. Eliot Spitzer stood behind the reconstruction project, Gov. David Paterson hasn?t made any public statement, according to Vanderhoef.
?In the scheme of things three weeks to wait is not enormous, but certainly the public deserves to know what?s going on. I think that everybody is disappointed, and we want to get moving on this,? he said.
