MAHOPAC - Family and friends said their final goodbyes Wednesday to the 14-year-old girl who drowned in Lake Mahopac.

Hundreds turned out to remember Jenna Nolan at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac.

Nolan disappeared in the lake on Friday while she was out swimming with friends. Carmel police say a preliminary autopsy report has ruled her death an accidental drowning.

An estimated 1,000 people turned out for Nolan's wake on Monday. Mahopac Schools Superintendent Tom Mankow says Nolan was a shining star who managed to have a positive impact on everyone she came in contact with.

Nolan's friends say her spirit will continue on with them into high school next year.

Instead of flowers, the Nolan family is asking that donations be made to St. John's Food Pantry.
