Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff Russ Nichols officially retired after 34 years.
Nichols started his law enforcement career in 1989 when Sheriff Fred Scoralick appointed him as Dutchess Deputy Sheriff.
Nichols has also served on many specialty units at the Sheriff's Office and was an intricate member on the Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit, and a member on the Hudson River Estuary Task Force.
