Dutchess County extends deer harvesting program for young hunters

Dutchess County lawmakers are extending a pilot program allowing 12 and 13-year-old hunters to harvest deer with some restrictions.
The extension allows those with a hunting license to hunt deer with a crossbow, shotgun, or muzzle-loading firearm through December of 2025, during the scheduled deer season.
The program aims to teach the next generation safe and responsible hunting practices.
