A fire damaged a home in Thiells this morning.
Firefighters were called to 26 Madison Ave. around 5:45 a.m.
Thiells Fire Chief Daniel Coughlin says the flames started in a furnace in the garage and spread to the main house through the cockloft. Crews had to tear down walls and ceilings to find the flames.
Coughlin says there are two apartments within the house, and all four residents were out of the house upon arrival.
One firefighter signaled a mayday for a medical condition, and he was removed within seconds. He was taken by EMS to the hospital for evaluation but is conscious and alert.
It took more than 45 firefighters ,from at least six different departments , nearly two hours to put the flames out.
While the cause of the fire has not been released, it does not appear to be suspicious.
