Early voting for local primary elections kicks off today

Residents who received absentee ballots in 2020 are not guaranteed to get one again this year. It’s best for voters to request one if they are unable to vote in person.

Early voting begins today across the Hudson Valley for primary elections.
This year’s elections will look different than they did in 2020 as laws over absentee ballots are being reverted back to pre-pandemic regulations.
Even residents who received absentee ballots in 2020 are not guaranteed to get one again this year.
It’s best for voters to request one if they are unable to vote in person.
This year’s primaries feature longtime County Clerk Timothy Idoni being challenged by Yonkers Councilwoman Shanae Williams.
There is a three-way Democratic race for the Mount Vernon comptroller, as well as two Democratic challengers for Yonkers City Council President Mike Khader.
Officials say they are expecting a much lower turnout due to voter fatigue and a typical drop off in off-year elections.
