Wednesday marked the first night of the eight days of Passover, and Jewish families across the area were ready to celebrate.

The celebrations started with a Seder dinner for dozens who came out to the Eastchester Chabad Jewish Center. It was also a personal moment of excitement for attendees, as it marked one year in Eastchester for the center.

Rabbi Sruli Deitsch led the services, remembering when Jewish people were enslaved in Egypt and then celebrating their freedom when they made it to Israel.

There is a lot of storytelling in their traditions, and Deitsch says at his center, he wants all members of the Jewish faith to feel included.

"We invite everyone to come and take part of it ... we walk through the program we share the stories, we relive what happened, and then we give timely lessons that are relevant to today -- how we can become better human beings today," says Deitsch.
