The leader of a Suffern mosque who is in court over an ongoing dispute with congregants is now facing housing violations.

Khurshid Ahmed, president of the Masjid Darul Ehsan Mosque, was issued housing violations over accusations he illegally subdivided the basement in his Washington Avenue home. Suffern police were called after someone complained about a tenant. However, police say they discovered a bigger problem when they arrived at the home.

Police say they found separate rooms with locks on them. Housing inspectors say in a place where no one should have been sleeping, there were six to 10 people. Inspectors immediately evacuated the people living in Ahmed?s basement.
