Entergy hit with notice of violation over sirens
As the one-year anniversary of Entergy?s original siren deadline nears, The Nuclear Regulatory Commission slapped the company with a notice of violation and a proposed six-figure fine.
The agency issued the notice Thursday, saying the delays were due to circumstances within Entergy?s control. The notice calls for a fine of $650,000 against the energy provider.
Entergy doesn?t expect the sirens to be fully ready until August. Three deadlines have been missed since the company decided to replace its entire siren system after experiencing repeated problems with the old one.
Company officials say they have received and are reviewing the order. They have been given a 30-day timetable to reply to the notice. No statement has been issued as to whether Entergy will try to fight the fines in court.
