A former chairman of the Weston Police Commission has been arrested on a slew of weapons charges.
Richard Phillips, 56, faces 15 counts of possession of an assault weapon, 90 counts of possessing a large-capacity magazine, five counts possession of a silencer, unsafe storage of a firearm and interfering with an officer.
Police say their investigation into Phillips began with a domestic dispute on March 30. At the time, he was charged with disorderly conduct, but that call led to the latest charges.
Town records show Phillips was a member of the Weston Police Commission from November 2001 through November 2013. News 12 is told that he served his last seven years as chairman of the police commission.
Phillips turned himself in Monday morning and posted $100,000 bond. Other terms of his release include anger management, a psychiatric evaluation and treatment and no access to weapons.
Police say Phillips will be in court Thursday.
