Family hears painful details in salon murder trial
It was a painful day in court Wednesday for the family of a Middletown hair dresser who was shot to death at her own salon.
Fermina Nunez?s family heard details from people who were present the night prosecutors say the murder-for-hire was carried out. According to investigators, Melvin Green entered the Final Touch salon near midnight on December 30, 2006. They say he forced Nunez and three other people to the ground, robbed the salon and then shot Nunez in the back of the head.
Prosecutors claim Green was paid by Nunez's ex-boyfriend, Patrick Bowie, to carry out the shooting. Both men are charged with murder. Green is the first to go to trial.
The first witness the prosecution called to testify was one of Nunez's co-workers. She pointed her finger directly at Green in court, identifying him as the shooter. Green?s attorney tried to discredit the woman?s recollection.
Although it will be painful to hear details about the murder, family members say they will be at court every step of the trial.
