A Hunterdon County family has decided to leave New Jersey and travel across the country in an RV.
Mark and Kate Chabus say that they decided to sell their home in Whitehouse Station and take their four kids around the country for an adventure in a 31-foot-long RV.
“I swore that the next morning, when I woke up that [Kate] was going to say “Nah, I don’t know what I was thinking.’ But she was like, ‘OK, where do we start?’” Mark says.
The couple both have jobs that allow them to work from home – Kate left her job as a nurse but also runs a skin care sales business. Mark is a former caterer-turned life coach. They will be home schooling their four kids, ages 2, 4, 6 and 9.
“Who knows what tomorrow brings so we have to do it now while we're able and healthy,” says Kate.
The family left Monday. The plan is to head south to Maryland and then to Florida. They will then head west and make a giant loop around the country. They say that when the trip is over, they may move back to New Jersey. They also say that they may not.
“The worst that happens is we hate it and we just come back,” Kate says.
The family will be chronicling their adventure on their Instagram account.
