Father and son charged in alleged bat attack
A father and son from Garnerville are accused of using baseball bats in an attack on another father of son from West Haverstraw Wednesday night.
According to police, the bat attack was spurred by an ongoing argument between Anthony Malta, 18, and one of the victims, also 18. The two had been arguing over a missing video game for some time, say police.
On Wednesday night, Michael Malta, 43, and his son, Anthony, went to the Benson Street home of the victims to discuss the missing Xbox video game and ended up severely beating them, according to police.
The victims were treated by emergency responders and then taken to Nyack Hospital. The son suffered severe head injuries and is still in the hospital. His father has been released and is recovering from his injuries.
Michael Malta is being held at the Rockland County Jail on $50,000 bail and his son is being held on $25,000 bail.
