The Westchester County Jail went into a Halloween night lockdown Tuesday due to fears an inmate had escaped.
An off-duty Peekskill police officer spotted a man walking around in a bright orange jumpsuit, similar to what inmates wear. Authorities didn?t know if the man was dressed up for Halloween or an escaped inmate, so they brought him in for questioning. According to police, the man was released from prison months ago, but kept his jumpsuit.
Police officers notified the jail, which went into lockdown as a precaution. The situation is still under investigation.
