BRONXVILLE - A federal investigation is underway into an alleged assault at Sarah Lawrence College.

The private college is now one of four schools across New York being investigated for how they deal with sexual assault complaints on campus.

A recent claim from a student that she was raped by a fellow classmate has put the school's sexual violence and assault polices under the spotlight.

The student was never officially charged because of a lack of evidence, prosecutors claim.

The school conducted its own investigation and suspended the suspect. It also released a list of new sexual conduct policies, including the implementation of a “consent and respect” course that all students must take, and it also plans to create a bystander training program.

There is no timetable on when the Department of Education will be concluding its investigation.
