Fierce weather knocks power in Hudson Valley
Local roads were soaked as an early Monday morning storm knocked out power to thousands and forced road closures throughout the Hudson Valley.
Along Route 9W in Upper Grand View, a utility pole went down because of the fierce winds, cutting power to the area and causing traffic to be rerouted.
"In Orange and Rockland counties, we have had about 5,000 customers affected by the storm and we've gotten nearly 4,000 of those customers back up," says a spokesperson for Orange and Rockland Utilities. "Our crews are making progress."
Students at Suffern High School were also sent home early Monday after power to the building was lost.
