Fiery crash in Highland Falls sends 3 to the hospital
The Highland Falls Fire Department responded to a fiery crash Thursday on Route 9W after a car rear-ended an oil van.
According to police, a fuel company van was making a right turn into a driveway when a station wagon rear-ended it. Both vehicles were knocked off the road and they ignited on impact.
Two bystanders pulled the male driver and a female passenger out of the station wagon. The van driver was able to get out of his vehicle on his own.
Crews were able douse the fire, but the busy roadway was shut down for about an hour Thursday afternoon. The door on the van read C.D. Parry Full Service Fuel Company. It is not known if there was fuel on board. Investigators are not sure what caused both vehicles to ignite.
All three people involved were taken by ambulance to Cornwall Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
