Fire consumes 3 buildings in Washingtonville
A fire tore through three buildings in Washingtonville Wednesday, leaving three families homeless.
Firefighters responded to the blaze on East Main Street shortly after midnight. Fortunately, the tenants were able to escape uninjured. Fire officials say the three apartments on the upper floors of one building suffered the most damage. Several businesses on the first floor of the buildings also had smoke and water damage and were forced to close.
Tenants say even though they lost virtually everything in the fire, they are glad no one was hurt.
