Six Vista firefighters returned to northern Westchester after being sent down South to help people devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
The firefighters spent the last 25 days helping evacuees at shelters in Arkansas get what they need to get back on their feet again. They all said the experience was extremely gratifying because of the impact they had on so many people?s lives.
While the firefighters were there they also had to deal with the after-effects of Hurricane Rita. All agreed the experience of dealing with people in stressful situations will be something they will bring back to the fire department everyday.
