First responders affected by working at Ground Zero held a press conference today, calling on the U.S. Senate to pass the Sept. 11 health care bill.
As of late this afternoon, the Senate had still not acted on the measure, which would provide more than $6 billion to help first responders and emergency workers suffering from illnesses acquired from working at Ground Zero.
The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, in its current form, trims the cost to $6.2 billion, from what was originally a $7.4 billion tab.
