SPRING VALLEY - Friends are demanding justice for a man who was allegedly beaten by a Spring Valley officer two weeks ago.

Friends of 44-year-old Dominique Mesadieu say he is now in pain with a black eye and bruises.

According to a criminal complaint, a fight ensued after Officer Ronnel Charles gave Mesadieu two tickets for having open containers of alcohol. The incident was captured on cellphone video.

The Spring Valley police chief called the incident troubling and has started his own investigation. Officials say Charles has been put on desk duty while they conduct the investigation

The altercation occurred about 100 feet from where a man named Herve Gilles was shot and killed by a Spring Valley officer back in 2011.
