Funeral held for Haverstraw drowning victim
Family and friends gathered at St. Peter's Church in Haverstraw Tuesday to say their final goodbyes to the 17-year-old boy who drowned in a swimming hole last week.
Last Thursday, officials say Victor Polanco and a group of his friends ignored the "no trespassing" signs and snuck into a private quarry owned by Con Edison in Verplanck to go for a swim. Polanco, however, never made it out of the water. Paramedics who arrived at the scene were not able to revive him.
Polanco was laid to rest at St. Peter's Cemetery in Haverstraw.
