STONY POINT - Family and friends said their final goodbyes to a young man from Stony Point who lost his life in a tragic car crash last week.

Mourners came to the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Stony Point earlier this morning to say farewell to 21-year-old Christian Ascolese. "Christian was a beautiful boy. He was well liked by everybody here in Stony Point. He was an excellent ball player, and my husband coached him for many years with my kids. He was a great boy, an excellent athlete and a great kid, and he's truly going to be missed by everybody," says Valerie Manzione, of Stony Point.

Ascolese died last Wednesday when the driver of the car he was riding in lost control along Gate Hill Road. Three others in the car were also injured.

An honor guard made up of members of the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club stood at attention.

Ascolese was laid to rest at the Ascension Cemetery in Airmont.
