A funeral was held Saturday for a Cortlandt woman who was beaten to death with a baseball bat allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend.
Friends and family gathered in the Bronx to remember how 41-year-old Janette Carlucci lived and not how she died. At Holy Cross Church, tearful mourners who were coping with the enormous tragedy were in disbelief. Carlucci was remembered as a great mother, kind friend and a beautiful person.According to police, Carlucci was beaten to death by her boyfriend Robert Sepe last Saturday in his Cortlandt home. Her body was discovered by Sepe's two children who came over to visit. Sepe had already taken off and was found by police near Binghamton trying to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Police say they don't know why Sepe killed his live-in girlfriend, but they say something made him snap. Sepe owns a company which makes body building supplements, and investigators want to know if steroids may have triggered the violence.
As for Carlucci?s family members, they now have to deal with the pain of losing their loved one and are left wondering if justice will be served.
