A funeral for Vladyslav Hvalyk was held today at Saint Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church in Spring Valley. Dozens turned out to remember Hvalyk.

Family and friends bid a somber farewell Thursday to the 16-year-old Clarkstown North High School student who died in an alleged drunk driving crash.
A funeral for Vladyslav Hvalyk was held at Saint Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church in Spring Valley. Dozens turned out to remember Hvalyk.
Last Thursday, the teen was a passenger in a car with friends when the driver crashed on Congers Road, but Hvalyk did not survive.
"There aren't words I can use to describe my feelings. He was a great kid and everybody loved him. That's what matters most. He never hurt anybody, and he was always looking out for his kids too," friend Graham Gallo said of Hvalyk.
Hvalyk's friend, 18-year-old Alan Mendoza, is now facing several charges including aggravated vehicular homicide and manslaughter.
