Dozens of families in a Rockland County community say they are being forced out of their homes because the new owners want to tear down their development and build upscale new condos.
The tenants live in the Oak Tree Lane apartments in Garnerville.
The development is made up of apartments and bungalows that date back to the mid-20th century.
The tenants say they received a letter a few weeks ago telling them they have until Nov. 30 to move.
However, many of the tenants are low income and some are on Section 8, and they tell News 12 they have no money and no place to go if forced to leave.
News 12 reached to the management company that runs the Oak Street Apartments and is waiting to hear back.
The tenants say they are joining forces and working with Rockland Legal Aid on their cases.
