A Bed-Stuy woman is shining a light on an organization that has made a difference for her and many others battling breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Angela Hall, 57, says she will never forget the phone call that changed her life.
"I was in Jamaica when my doctor called and said 'Hi, Angela when you get back make sure you come and see me,'" said Hall.
Hall was later diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy followed by chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
Luckily, Hall is now in remission. However, she says she still suffers several side effects, including nephropathy in her hands and feet.
Hall says this is why it's become difficult for her to do things like shop, cook and clean. She says she's grateful for God's Love We Deliver.
God's Love We Deliver is a nonprofit that delivers medically tailored meals for people living with breast cancer and more than 200 other illnesses.
In fact, for years Angela has been collecting the bags the nonprofit has provided for her. Hall says she's not just thankful she's currently cancer-free, but also that organizations like God's Love We Deliver continues to bring light into her life.
