Goshen mayor dies suddenly just days before election

Michael Nuzzolese, 66, who had been mayor since 2018, was running for his second full-term in tomorrow’s elections.

The village mayor of Goshen died suddenly on Saturday.
Michael Nuzzolese, 66, who had been mayor since 2018, was running for his second full-term in tomorrow’s elections.
His name will remain on the ballot.
Deputy Mayor Peter Smith will serve as acting mayor until next year’s village elections.
Before being elected mayor, Nuzzolese served as a village trustee. He also served as the village’s public works superintendent before retiring.
A funeral will be held at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Goshen on Thursday.
Nuzzolese is survived by his wife, Alice, and his mother, four children and two grandchildren.
