Group calls for action after president’s alleged remarks on Haiti
More Haitians in the area are calling for action after President Donald Trump’s reported remarks about Haiti.
Around 30 people gathered at the Haitian Resource Center in White Plains Wednesday evening to discuss a plan of action in the wake of the reported divisive comments from the Oval Office.
Those in attendance proposed steps to help the community come together and move forward.
"There are Haitians all over New York and all over the country, so it’s really important that our voices are heard because we don’t want to be silenced. We want to assimilate, that's why we're here,” says Haitian-American Erlande Thelusma.
White Plains Mayor Tom Roach was among the community leaders on hand voicing support.
