YONKERS - Gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino admitted to smoking marijuana in college when asked by a reporter during a news conference Friday.

Astorino says he would possibly be open to legalization if it were strictly controlled. The Westchester County executive went on to say he is against legalization as it is in Colorado.

Astorino slammed Gov. Andrew Cuomo's plan to allow medical marijuana for patients at 20 hospitals as something that was rushed out without discussion. Cuomo has acknowledged that he too smoked marijuana in his youth.

Recent polls show 88 percent of New Yorkers support legalization.

Astorino will be back in Westchester Saturday.
