Guests of WHUD Kids' Fair have fun and learn
Despite the warm weather, hundreds of families gathered inside the Westchester County Center in White Plains Saturday for the 14th annual WHUD Kids' Fair.
This year, the fair featured dozens of booths showcasing science experiments, public safety education exhibits and healthy activities. Children also had a chance to meet and take a photograph with News 12 Westchester meteorologist Brysen Van Eck.
"We did about 100 pictures last year, 250 the year before, and even though it's a gorgeous day out here, we seem to have a lot of kids lining up," Van Eck says.
On the science barge, children learned about sustainable ways to grow food and use renewable energy. Another exhibit offered kids a brief lesson in software engineering and a chance to play with programmable robots.
The event raised $10,000 last year. All the proceeds from the fair go toward the HOPE for Youth Foundation and children's charities in the Hudson Valley.
