Hall, Hayworth face off in 19th Congressional District debate
Rep. John Hall (D-N.Y.) and his challenger, Republican Nan Hayworth, debated live on News 12 Hudson Valley for the right to represent the 19th Congressional District.
The debate, hosted by Brian Conybeare, featured discussion about the effects Washington has had on job growth in the district, the re-licensing of Indian Point nuclear power plant, and gay marriage.
Neither candidate offered sharp rebukes to the other's comments, instead spending most of the time on reiterating campaign promises.
The divide between the candidates came to light while they were addressing federal spending. Hall said he wants more tax dollars to be spent on his constituents, while Hayworth spoke for the overall reduction of spending.
