One woman was killed and another was rushed to the hospital with her two children after a head-on crash in Chester Wednesday.
According to police, 45-year-old Colleen Banks, of Middletown, was driving a Ford SUV eastbound on Route 17 and suddenly crossed over the median and plowed into another Ford SUV. Police say Banks was pronounced dead at the scene. Thirty-year-old Amy Fulton, of Harriman, was in the other vehicle and was rushed by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center with a leg injury. Police say her two children riding in the back escaped serious injuries.
A part of Route 17 westbound was completely shut down during the accident investigation. It is the seventh fatal crossover collision on that stretch of Route 17.
