Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A man believed to be from Newburgh is accused of stealing $3,000 in merchandise. Police say the shoplifter struck twice this month at Bottle King liquor store in Glen Rock, New Jersey. He got away in a 2019 gray Nissan Sentra and appears to have tattoos on both arms. Police are asking anyone with information to call them at (201) 652-3800.
Mount Vernon seniors are calling for the city to reopen a beloved bocce court. Before the pandemic, seniors played the popular Italian bowling game inside a senior center at Hartley Park. But as of now, all senior centers in the city remain closed. Bocce players say they need a place to go - just like the kids who use other parts of the park. Mount Vernon officials say they are already working on repairing and reopening the senior center.
A New City woman has been honored for rescuing a baby deer from drowning in her pool. A certificate of merit has been rewarded by the Town of Clarkstown to Danielle Cifuni for her heroic actions.  As a special surprise, Cifuni says a deer, who she thinks might be the fawn's sister, stopped in to say hello yesterday morning during the award presentation.
