A retaining wall that collapsed in the Highbridge section of the Bronx came as no surprise to neighbors.
Residents say the wall on University Avenue has been decaying for about a year. Neighbors say the wall belongs to the owner of the vacant lot next door. The superintendent of the adjoining building says the owners of the lot were issued violations in the past because the wall looked so unstable.
No one was hurt in the wall collapse. The buildings department did not returned repeated calls by News 12 The Bronx.
