Haverstraw police are urging residents to lock up their homes in the wake of a burglary spree.
Police arrested a 14-year-old Wednesday. He's accused of breaking into a Maple Avenue home. Another man, 21-year-old James Sanders, is also behind bars for allegedly robbing a home last week.
On Monday, several people were arrested for allegedly breaking into a Delloro Street home. Officers swarmed the area with K-9 units and a helicopter.
Police believe the young suspects may have been working together.
"They're all from downtown Haverstraw," says a Haverstraw lieutenant. "They're all approximately the same age, possibly travel in the same circles and there's some casual relationships and some closer than that and that's part of our investigation."
Residents are being more cautious. "We just can't go in and out and leave the door open or run quickly somewhere and forget to lock it, so we've really been paying attention to that," says neighbor Marianne Riccaldo.
Anyone who knows anything about the break-ins is asked to call police at 845-354-1500.
