“We’re hoping for the best but certainly preparing for the worst,” said Joe Jenkins director of media relations for Central Hudson.
The utility is concerned about heavy, wet snow bringing down tree limbs that will hit power lines, ultimately causing outages.
It expects its southern service area to be impacted the most, which includes Orange County, portions of Putnam County, as well as southern Dutchess and Ulster counties.
“We are closely monitoring this storm,” said Jenkins. “We will have our crews ready to respond if outages do occur.”
As of 5 p.m. Friday, Central Hudson is not having mutual aid support its usual contractors and crews.
Orange & Rockland says it will be mobilizing its emergency response team late Saturday afternoon who work in the field and in the office.
O&R is also bringing in mutual aid overhead line workers.
