Today is the start of the holiest day of the year for the Jewish community.
Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, begins at sundown.
According to Jewish tradition, the day is a chance to wipe the slate clean of any wrongs committed over the past year.
Those who observe the holiday will fast, repent and worship from sundown tonight until the end of tomorrow night.
