10h agoState Sen. Pete Harckham announced on Wednesday that the Hudson Valley will be receiving millions for tech projects to help with environmental changes.
The grants, estimated at $2.1 million, will be used for electrification projects in northern Westchester and parts of Putnam and Rockland counties. Each municipality in Harckham's district will get up to $100,000 in grants to do any electrification project they wish, which could include buying a fleet electric vehicle or putting in more chargers.
"This grant is wonderful because it came simply to do better in Ossining as it will in every municipality,” said Ossining Mayor Rika Levin.
Harckham added partnering with municipalities will help meet the state's carbon free, reduce greenhouse gas emissions goals.
