Hudson Valley sends aid to the Bahamas
Two local organizations are doing what they can to help victims of Hurricane Dorian.
The United Jewish Appeal Federation of New York and the Afya Foundation are teaming up to send much needed supplies to the Bahamas today.
Last week, the Afya Foundation in Yonkers packed up critical medical supplies to send to those impacted by Hurricane Dorian.
Later this morning, a variety of medical equipment and humanitarian supplies - everything from antibiotics to personal hygiene kits to body bags - will be loaded onto a chartered plane headed to the islands.
The medicine and medical equipment will be distributed to medical professionals and clinics throughout the Bahamas and the humanitarian aid will be distributed to the hardest hit communities.
As the islands recover, another storm has strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Humberto will bring large swells to the northwestern Bahamas.
